Marco Bok is quickly becoming known as one of Australia’s most respected contemporary art photographers. Runner-up in this year's prestigious City of Sydney photographic prize, Bok is one of that rare breed of artist whose work can elevate the viewer. He invites us to recognize something precious in the spontaneous reflected images of his subjects.
Bok calls himself a, “photographic diarist”, capturing truthful moments when and wherever they appear before him. His work is completely unpretentious both in style and form as it is captured “in the moment.”
Sydney Morning Herald critic, Robert McFarlane described Bok's work as “breathtaking”, after seeing his solo exhibition earlier this year. He went on to say, “... it is his (Bok's) capacity to work close to his subjects, establishing an intimacy both delicate and revealing that marks him as a significant artist.”
Editor's Note: Keep your eye on this photograph - it is destined to become one of the most iconic images of modern day Australian surf lifesaving. With its grace and beauty it reshapes the idea of lifesavers as muscle bound heros into a new vision of refined feminine elegance. We are proud to offer this exclusive edition of photographs as our special offer for June. There are only ten of these hand-printed photographs available on the artists preferred stock of Agfa film.
